Vanderbilt defensive end Caleb Azubike has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Cowboys. Vandy head coach Derek Mason tweeted a congratulatory message to his former player earlier this evening.

Azubike is a very intriguing prospect out of Vanderbilt. Azubike was a monster his first three years on West End and was poised to break out his senior year but a broken jaw cut his damper on his final season. When he was healthy Azubike showed a lot of potential won several SEC defensive weekly awards during his time as a Commodore.
When new head coach Derek Mason took over Azubike’s junior season he switched from linebacker to defensive end in a 3-4. In the 4-3 under James Franklin he was a linebacker.
Azubike had worked out for the Titans last month and many thought he would sign with them if he wasn’t drafted. Now he will head to Dallas to try to make the roster this summer in the preseason. Since he’s finally healthy and back to 100% I think he has a shot at making the team on special teams.
