The Cowboys season couldn’t end soon enough. Dallas ended the season 4-12 and will have the fourth pick in the 2016 NFL Draft after losing at home to the Redskins, 34-23.
Jerry Jones team ended the season with four straight losses after entering the year as a playoff hopeful. Dallas started 2-0 but injuries to Tony Romo and Dez Bryant took their toll and couldn’t recover. Despite the injuries the Cowboys played well losing seven games this year by a touchdown or less.
Dallas could go in several different directions in the draft and will be in a good position to get a playmaker. If they choose to go after a quarterback the Cowboys could get one of the best in the draft. The Titans at #1 won’t select a QB and neither will the Chargers at #3. The Browns at #2 could grab Goff, who played at Cal leaving the Cowboys with their choice of Paxton Lynch or Connor Cook. Jerry Jones could mess all this up by going after Johnny Manziel in the offseason and put the Cowboys in position to go in another direction in the draft.
If the Cowboys wanted to get another receiver to compliment Dez Bryant Laquon Treadwell from Ole Miss will probably be there at #4. Joey Bosa has been mentioned as the best pure prospect in the draft and if he is there Dallas may snag him.
The draft is still a few months away and pro days, private workouts and the NFL Combine will dictate who the teams move up and down their draft boards. The Titans could trade the first pick to another team and then all bets are off and everything is up in the air.
