Former Eastern Kentucky University football players Dy’Shawn Mobley will get a chance to play in the NFL.

Mobley, a running back from Powell, Tennessee, signed as a priority free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Colonels’ RB will face an uphill climb trying to find a spot on the Bengals’ roster with Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard entrenched as the starters with Rex Burkhead, and Cedric Peerman also on the roster. Mobley is likely working toward a spot on the practice squad if he can have a decent camp this summer.

Mobley agreed to terms with the Bengals about 10 minutes following the conclusion of the 2016 NFL Draft and received a signing bonus. He was a Sports Network All-America selection and the Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2014 after rushing for 1,491 yards and 20 touchdowns. Injuries limited him to nine games and 110 carries in 2015, but he looked healthy during an impressive work out at EKU’s Pro Day in March.
