*Somebody cue up Eminem*
Guess who’s back, back, back… Back again…FOOTBALL’S BACK!!!
Its been a struggle of an offseason to say the least…
With the only football related news coming in the form of off the field shenanigans such as: “Manziel Madness”, “DeflateGate Garbage”, and of course our favorite NFL offseason game show, “Wheel of MIS-Fortune: NFL Suspensions Edition”…
Needless to say.. I’m a little on edge! But that’s okay because here we are once again!
Training camp is here and it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time!
This time of year always excites me with all teams having “high hopes” for the season, new faces (both players and coaches) on new teams, position battles, high profile rookies getting their first real taste of the league…WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!
As the players are getting settled into their dorms around the league, I have the pleasure of focusing my sights on Anderson University where the “Boys in Blue” dawn their gear and hit the fields to prep for the ’16 campaign.
Let’s quickly recap what’s happened since “The Good Guys” were last on the field…
1.) We FINALLY have our 140-Million-dollar man locked up! Andrew Luck will be in the “Circle City” for what we hope to be many more productive years! So with that being said, when I get up there to camp Andrew, I expect my lunch to already be paid for! 😀
(Hope he’s got that same smile when my bill comes…O_o HAHA)
2.) Arthur Jones, got nailed for a “banned substance” and will be suspended the first 4 games of the regular season. If there is a bright side to this, it’s that he at least owned up to not being responsible enough to watch what he took. Also on this slight bright side, there are MANY “off color” jokes we could make in regards to the Jones family have issues with illegal substances… But we’ll leave that one alone..
3.) Pat McAfee is still hilarious. Recently finishing up shows at Morty’s Comedy Club in Indianapolis not too long ago. If you haven’t had a chance to hear or see him… YOU NEED TO!
4.) Onto a very serious note… RIP Zirlon Tipton. The former Colts RB died from an accidental and self-inflicted gunshot wound he suffered in a bizarre incident at a car dealership in Michigan.
5.) NFL/Colts Legends former coach Tony Dungy and former All-Pro WR Marvin Harrison will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio on August 7th. Both had tremendous careers on the field, with Dungy being a former player himself, before exchanging his cleats for a clipboard.
I guess it’s worth noting that this year’s class is sort of “headlined” by Brett Favre who FINALLY stayed retired long enough to go in!
(Let’s just hope his speech doesn’t end with, I’m coming out of retirement :p)
Although I know preseason games aren’t the most entertaining games to watch, let’s all just be happy that we’re finally approaching the best part of the year, FOOTBALL SEASON!
And if it helps make my fellow Colts fans feel any better..hopefully not little worse… Including the upcoming HOF game, Indy has 5 Preseason contests before we get to the real stuff! Try to enjoy it!
Peace, Love, & Pigskin!
