Alabama QB Jacob Coker has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals were rumored to be in the market for a QB in the NFL Draft but opted to not select one after having private workouts with notable QBs Cardale Jones Dak Prescott, Jeff Driskel and Brandon Doughty. Coker will be given the opportunity this summer to make the team and compete for the third string QB position.

Despite throwing for 3110 yards and 21 TDs and only 8 interceptions last season for the Crimson Tide Coker wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine in February. It’s true that Coker was more of a game manager at times and his job was pretty easy handing it off to Derrick Henry for big chunks of yards at a time. But when the National Title was in question in January Coker found OJ Howard when it mattered most and passed for 335 yards to lead Bama to the Championship.

Carson Palmer is the starting QB in 2016 for the Cardinals. Coker will have to beat out Matt Barkley, Drew Stanton or another undrafted free agent to earn his spot on the Arizona roster in a few months.
