Last year the Titans had one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL which prompted them to pick Michigan State’s Jack Conklin with the 8th pick in the draft last month. Conklin may get thrown to the wolves early as the team lost versatile starting lineman Byron Bell for the 2016 season due to an ankle injury. Bell played left guard and left and right tackle last season for Tennessee.

Bell injured his left ankle during OTAs on Tuesday in Nashville.

The Titans are trying to protect Marcus Mariota, the second pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Mariota showed flashes of being a great NFL quarterback last season but the porous offensive line couldn’t keep him upright and he had to miss multiple games due to injury.

Conklin will now likely start at right tackle and Quinton Spain, Jeremiah Poutasi and sixth-round draft pick from Arkansas Sebastian Tretola will now be competing for the left guard position. Taylor Lewan will be the left tackle and Chance Warmack will be the right guard.

Tennessee is going to feature a smash mouth running game with DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry this season under Mike Mularkey. If the line can hold up and Mariota can keep from getting sacked all the time there are high hopes for the team in Nashville.
