The Tennessee Titans have been wheeling and dealing for the past two months picking up DeMarco Murray and trading the first pick in the 2016 NFL Draft for multiple picks this year and next year. Titans GM Jon Robinson had one more deal up his sleeve as he traded the first pick in the sixth round (#176) and a sixth round in the 2017 NFL Draft for the Broncos in exchange for the Broncos 5th round selection that they used to draft Southern Utah cornerback LeShaun Sims and the last pick in the draft (#253), Mr. Irrelevant.
At 6’0, 203 pounds Sims was third-team All-Big Sky Conference selection as a junior and as a senior had two interceptions, 10 pass break-ups and 54 tackles. He has been clocked at a 4.41 in the 40 but ran a 4.53 at the NFL Combine in February.
Tennessee drafted MTSU defensive back Kevin Byard with the first pick in the third round on Friday. Byard and Sims could see significant playing time in 2016 as the team lost Coty Sensabuagh to free agency and cut veteran safety Michael Griffin in the offseason. The Titans signed DB Brice McCain to go along with Perrish Cox , Blidi Wreh-Wilson, B.W. Webb and Cody Riggs. Wreh-Wilson may not make the roster this summer.
The Titans will have two more selections in the seventh round to add some depth to the roster.
