WKU enjoyed clear skies and cool temperatures on Saturday as they worked through their second scrimmage of the spring season on Saturday inside Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.

It was a day that could be best summed up by consistency as the WKU quarterbacks, continuing to fight to replace Brandon Doughty, found their rhythm early, throwing for a combined 410 yards and four touchdowns.

“I thought we had a good scrimmage today,” said head coach Jeff Brohm. “There is all kinds of room to improve (offensively), but the quarterbacks were a little more consistent. There was progress, and we have two more weeks. We have to utilize every bit of it.”

Brohm has said this spring the defense was slightly ahead of the offense, and the third-year head coach said again on Saturday the defense continues to show signs of improvement but needs to find a few stars.

“Defensively, they have to continue to prove that we’ve got playmakers,” Brohm added. “We’re challenging them every day. I think we have some good players, but we need to find some who can find a way to be great and be dominate.”

The Hilltoppers will practice from approximately 4-6 p.m., for every practice, and all practices are open.

Spring practice concludes with the annual Red and White Game, set for April 23 at 1 p.m., inside Houchens-Smith Stadium. Admission and parking will be free.
